Ayahuasca's Ceremony

Filder Agustín's ceremonies respect the tradition, rituals, practices and beliefs of his Shipibo indigenous community. Before taking ayahuasca, the patient has to prepare a day or two before. You have to be aware that it is a strong medicine that will take you to a state of "dizziness" in which you are purging.

For 2 days, it is preferable not to eat a lot of fat or meat and not drink alcohol or drugs. Most of all, on the day of the ceremony, it is best not to dine and have light lunch like vegetables. Mental preparation consists of thinking about what we want to cure, which personal problem we want to solve. It may be good to have an intention during the ceremony and at the time of the decision to orient oneself towards that problem. The ceremony takes place at night and starts at 20.30.

It lasts in general 7 hours, but that depends on each person according to the problems he wants to solve. They spend in a special room in the house of Filder. Everyone is sitting on a mattress. We give you blankets and pillows. First a song is made to the medicine and then it is blown with the tobacco so that the plant protects us and that there are no negative energies during the ceremony. The tobacco is smoked in the traditional pipe called cashimpo. Then, to know what dose of ayahuasca the healer will give to the patient, he touches the pulse and above the head where the energy of the person is felt. From there, the healer invites the medicine to the patients. He also takes to be able to feel in what state the patients are and thus cure them.

From there, the light goes out. The ceremony can only be done in the dark. If there is light, the plant stops working. Afterwards, the healer begins to sing the icaros. For the patient, the effect begins with a purification of the body that can be very violent (vomit, cries to screams depending on the case). That is to remove the things that harm the body. When the body is released from these things, the patient can begin to have very clear visions of what their problems are and gradually solve them. Patients gradually visualize their problems and can begin a cure. The time it takes to heal is according to the intensity of the problem. A single ceremony may be enough. Others need more. Work with the plant is done little by little.

The healer makes songs to each of the patients to help and order the work that each one does. If one does not tolerate the effect of the medicine and feels very bad without being able to control, the healer sings the icaros that lower the effect. At the end of the ceremony, the patient feels very well. Feel that your body and, at the same time your mind, are clean and purified. The healer sings an icaro to close the session, to protect patients from any negative energy and to feel good. The light is turned on and the ceremony is over. Afterwards, each one rests. The patients sleep in the same place where they performed the ceremony. The next day, breakfast can be served.
